A Poetic Interlude

* Return to my information

I wrote this for the Middle Wallop chatroom, but as it's appropriate (and I'm quite proud of it!!) I thought I would include it on this website.

An Ode to Series 1 and 2

It's all thanks to D Home and Leisure,
Twas my delight and total pleasure,
I've had the chance to watch 'anew',
Two's Country series 1 and 2.

First the Thames or is it Isis?
The Tower of London sorted William's crisis,
Wessex is home to Hardy's heart,
There's Dorchester that played its part,
Blue Jean mines and hot springs too,
Little John's grave and a church with a view,
The North York Moors looking fine,
200 steps or one-nine-nine?
Lleyn Peninsular and Welsh quite tricky,
Slate mines and clay oh so sticky,
The Shipping Canal and Man United,
Tim's stomping ground, he was delighted,
Wedgewood tunnels and expensive crockery,
In Stoke on Trent twas all things pottery,
Offa's Dyke, quite far to go,
To see a ditch that's full of snow,
Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth's here,
A favourite pub with proper beer,
Here Emperor Hadrian built his wall,
It kept the Picts from taking it all,
Town Hall silver lost forever,
The Big One and that bloke Trevor,
The Nicolson kilt, Tim's legs all hairy,
Then there was Nessie, oooh that was scary!!!
The Broads we saw by air and water,
Spectacular views, not bricks and mortar,

Brecon Beacons, that assault course,
Yet more Welsh, and a rather nice horse,
Dover Castle a secret tunnel,
Onto France right through the Chunnel,
Cotswold stone, houses bright and gay,
The Romans came and thought they'd stay,
There's a gaol and Robin's hideout's near,
The oldest pub in England's here,(?)
Brochs built by Celts who got it right,
A winch ride cures a fear of height (not!),
Giants Causeway, Wilde and Samuel Beckett,
Irelands biggest lough and eels - forget it!
Victoria and Tennyson enjoyed the sight,
Though canons blew bits off Isle of Wight,
Bikes, trams and trains and fairy bridges,
Bits of body amongst the ridges,
Old Sarum, leylines a standing stone,
UFO's, a spire and a Loxley clone,
Logan Rock, Eye's new chip,
St.Michaels Mount and a cooking tip,
From seaweed baths to a holy vision, (the same?)
4 brothers hanged for a bad decision,
They crept along dark catacombs,
Through Churchill's bunker and all his rooms,

Duke William's land his battle glory,
His internment though was rather gory,

There you have it, series 1 and 2,
They came, they saw, they enjoyed the view,
I kept it clean, without a lie,
The journey's of Tim and the Eye.
